Back Story   

​

Every year Chris Harrell organizes a Day of the Dead show at the historic Lamy Church. The concept took on a more ominous nature in 2023, considering the depth of musical talent we lost. Chris asked guitarist Phil Moon if he would salute Jeff Beck. After initially thinking No Freaking Way, he approached veteran musicians Lee Steck, Keith McGuire and Rob Heineman who all signed up. The 20-minute set in November 2023 was a highlight of the show. The crowd wanted an encore – we didn’t have one.

The four musicians discussed expanding the concept, adding Eric Clapton tunes and the JB/EC Band was founded.

The Show   

 

Pretty straight ahead. We start off with a set of Jeff Beck music. We dig deep into his Yardbirds catalog, then through the Jeff Beck Group and into the more accessible selections from his extensive solo years. 

The Clapton segment is about twice as long. We go as early as his Bluesbreaker years, then a healthy dose of faithfully recreated Cream tunes, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos and solo offerings from the 1970’s on. We also incorporate a selective acoustic set in the middle.

In addition to the four piece group, for special performances the JB/EC Band can expand to 6 members, adding two of Santa Fe’s top vocalists Ellie Dendahl (American JeM) and Julie Stewart (Animal Parade, Julie Stewart and the MotorKings).
